Raw materials

We harvest many of our ingrediencies ourselves, for example blue berries and lingonberries which have ripened over long summer nights in the nearby Knute Mountain. Also, in some of our products we use local sweet honey from the lads at “The King of Steglet”, and locally grown caraway.

Water

We use fresh groundwater from under the green meadows outside our distillery, and ice-cold mountain water from the King`s lake in our products. The lake is located 719 meters up on the Knute Mountain, which can be seen from our city.

Our stills

We have two high quality stills made by Arnold Holstein in Germany. Our two stills are made in shinny and beautiful cobber, one 350L still for production, and one 50L still for testing new products.

Casks & Storage

Our aquavit is a stored for at least six months on sherry casks. We have two possibilities when it comes to storage, one at our distillery in a rebuilt cellar on our barn, and one in a real silver mine! This gives the aquavit a unique storage, and a nice smooth taste.

Silver Distillery strives to make things authentic, sustainable, and as organic as possible.

Jon Arne Reitan
Silver Distillery

The first distillery at Kongsberg since 1835.

In 2017 we had a dream in our riverside city surrounded by forests and mountains, to be the first company since 1835 to produce liquor. That dream is now a reality. Our products are of high quality, and we strive to be as sustainable as possible using both knowledge and innovation. We are also an organic approved distillery.

We will work towards becoming as sustainable and organic as possible, while also preserving our proud silver mining history. On our sturdy bottles, with a one-of-a-kind label, you can clearly see references to both mines and mountains, and a shimmer of silver! In the future, some of our products will be stored in a dim, mysterious, and perfectly tempered silver mine, where our products will have time to develop a unique flavor.
